Busy Weekend! Food and Fun!

ShowHype: hype it up!
red sox logoNot at the movie theatre, but for myself personally. I don't know if people will like that I'm not talking about movies that much in this post, but only time will tell. I did work my normal two days this weekend, and both were extremely slow. There's just no good movies out, and when you're in the Boston area, and the Red Sox are playing the Yankees, forget about it. Add the Patriots on Sunday night and my staff and I are left twiddling our thumbs. Go Sox and Patriots!

On my day off, I considered working the Boston Film Festival, but I decided I needed a day off, and I went to watch the Red Sox play at Boston Billiards. Great atmosphere for watching a baseball game, though its not quite Fenway Park. Afterwards, we ended up at The Cheesecake Factory. Any of you eaten there before? Do you like it? I had the Thai Chicken Pasta, which was excellent. I also have a piece of strawberry cheesecake still waiting to be eaten. :-) Yum.

That kinda gets me thinking about the theatre a bit. We all know theatres serve popcorn, soda, hotdogs, etc. Are things any different around the country? How about in other countries, for my international readers? I've been to Canadian theatres and they have some different toppings for popcorn! Yum. Let me know and I'll compile a post of all the various types of food they serve in movie theatres throughout the world! (And locally, if there are some non-traditional things you've seen)

Continuing on the weekend, for anyone who's still reading, went to the Casino this morning. Didn't come out ahead though :-(. Hopefully my blog will someday make up for that, but not quite yet. I've been trying though! Here's a another question for you readers! How do you feel about me trying to monetize this blog? Is it offensive? Are you ok with it? Does it turn you off completely from my content or do you only notice if there is something that interests you? I know reactions can go either way with monetized blogs, and I'd like to hear from everyone!
Back to the casino though, I did have fun! They have an incredible buffet there, so I got my fill of great food and desserts two days in a row! The casino gave me free food for my birthday too, so that took out the sting of losing a bit.

Anyway, I'll try to provide a more movie oriented post tomorrow. I'm still drained from the weekend.... hope it was a great one for you too!

Popcorn Lung?

ShowHype: hype it up!
Oh man. I am concerned for my life now. I found this article this morning on popcorn lung. Having worked at a movie theatre, I think that I've more than inhaled my fair share of popcorn fumes, and I continue to get them every day I come to work! Hopefully this only applies to the microwave popped corn, I don't THINK we have the same chemicals in our popcorn. I know that I've been eating it more lately, and it's actually been tasting better to me. Maybe its because its been so long since I've really eaten it. Back to the article, I don't know how this guy could really eat microwaved popcorn twice a day for the past 20 years.

I'm actually feeling a little sick now, but this is a cold, not popcorn lung. At least I hope not. I want to get over it before my birthday. Thanks for all the early birthday wishes by the way! Glad to know that there are people who read my ramblings out there. :-P.

Anyway, just thought I'd keep you updated on some of the other reasons why you should go to the movies! If you let us pop your popcorn, you won' t have to worry about popcorn lung! C'mon.. that's a good reason right? Anyway, I'm off to get some rest.. gotta work tomorrow night. Later, folks!

Munchies at the movies!

ShowHype: hype it up!
Mmmm.. gummy bears. Just read an article on how gummy bears could soon become the food of the rich! Are you serious?!?! With prices nowadays its hard to fathom how much higher they can get! I for one do like to have a snack or two when I go to the movies, though it really depends on my mood. Besides popcorn obviously, and drinks, here are some of the other popular ones at my theatre. Interestingly enough, here is an article on how popcorn first became associated with the movies!

Buncha Crunch - Little pieces of chocolate with crunchies in them. Like a Crunch Bar broken up into a ton of little pieces. Someone once told me it was fish eyes in Crunch Bars, and I didn't eat them for a while. My loss. Favorite part about them coming from a person who will take an order is what people call them. Among the best: Cruncha Bunch, and Those Crunch Things.

M&M Peanut - Like Regular M&Ms, but with peanuts in em. Can't get much better than that right? Dunno what it is about em, but these are really addictive. Who knew a peanut could make such a big difference? Best part about people who order them: Expecting us to know that they want those by saying "M&Ms please". At least they say please, but we have two different kinds, k?

Skittles - For those of you who aren't feelin the chocolate, taste the rainbow. Can I say that without getting sued? Well I guess you'll all find out if skittles ever gets a hold of this website. You can buy it from me for a little over $10000. I will quietly slink away. :-) I love these too, because they seem to last forever, and now they come in a resealable bag! So take em home if you're not finished and enjoy your $4 purchase. Best part about people who order em: They order em right! Not too much to mess up here.

Reeses Pieces - For those who want a peanut butter fix but without the chocolate. These are incredibly addicting, and the bag goes on and on. It's one of the heftiest bags at the theatre, so that makes it one of the best values, if there is such thing at the movies nowadays. Favorite part about people who order em: Reesee Peecees.

Now onto the candies I wish my theatre had but they don't! I'm really really upset that they got rid of these actually, they were something that I would actually buy!Man do I miss these. These and the watermelon ones also. I wish we could bring these back, they were great sellers. So what do you guys like in terms of candies at the movies? Do you mix em up into your popcorn? That can be really good actually. oooo.. I miss Sno Caps too. Something about those candies. Hmm.. makes me want to have some candy tonight. Well, more tomorrow night, after I get back from workin at the theatre!
