I don't know if anyone still has this blog bookmarked now that it's returned to it's blogspot roots, but if you're looking for Intermisison at Work, please follow the link. I'm going to be using this as a more personal blog, as I think less people will be reading it and I can express myself more fully. If you read it, please don't be offended by any ranting or other stuff I may post here. Like I said, this is personal, and I won't be sharing this with too many people.... Thanks!

Random Thoughts :-)
Hi all.. I'm back again this week! I know, it's a shock. I don't really have anything to say about the movies for right now, but some of the stuff I've been up to lately. How about that? Well... even if you don't want to hear it, you're going to because I'm going to write it here anyway.
For those of you who used to read this and are just having a stop by... what caused you to stop reading? I think that part of the reason is that I don't post as much anymore. I just haven't had the time. Another thing is that I haven't been able to leave comments as much... not really much at all. I have been keeping track of a ton of blogs through my RSS reader. It's really a lifesaver for me, as I wouldn't be able to read as much without it. That's part of the reason why I kinda want a Kindle. That way I could read your blogs whenever! I also toyed with the idea of a wireless broadband card... so that I could post and comment more but:
- It's too expensive.
- I don't know how much I would use it.
Funny moment of the night. At the restaurant we were at, there were some girls there (in short skirts) promoting Killians Irish Red. For anyone who doesn't know, that's a type of beer. Well, we wanted to try it, but not right away. When we got to the third period, we decided to order a round. What did the waitress say?
"The Girls left already, you know?"I laughed out loud. That was just... unbelievable. I wouldn't have minded the Tshirt they were giving away though.
Joe Thornton just missed a sure goal. I miss him playing for the Bruins.
My sister fell asleep and her rabbit is still loose in the room. Gotta go catch a bunny. Later folks! Man... that thing poops everywhere. And it ate some of it. Ew!!

The Drive Thru
It wasn't what I wanted, so I made them get me a new one. I like my iced coffee. :-) Anyway, it was surprising that the person in front of me apparently wanted the same thing as me because they didn't change the order. It was a surprise to the people at the window though. They just seemed really confused. It could be a cool way to get a new surprise every day. Just go to the drive thru, and take the first thing handed to you, pay for it, and go. Even quicker! You don't even have to order, lol.
Speaking of something you Drive Thru....I've always wanted to go to a drive in movie. You don't really have many of these anymore, which is a shame. Now those screens were huge, and with the sound systems in some cars these days, you can get pretty good quality. Not to mention it's much more private than a traditional theatre, and you don't have to deal with the common annoyances in a traditional theatre. Could just be you and your lucky lady/guy.
Another perk about drive ins is that you usually get two movies for the price of one. Of course you do have to worry about the weather, but I wouldn't mind during the summer at all!
That's all for my short ramblings today.... new movie releases tomorrow!!! I should probably do laundry as well...I also just noticed that there is a turkey in the drive through in that picture above. Actually I've seen some wild turkeys recently. They're not scared of anything!
Anyone who reads this ever gone to a drive in movie?

Name that Blog!
First though, here's my suggestion for Mandy's new blog name.. how about MamaMandy.com? Maybe not the most creative thing in the world, but it eases the transition to the new name.... right? We all know blog names are important, and while I hope I win, here's how I'm gonna help you out Mandy!
I'm going to get the domain for you, from GoDaddy, Mandy, for 1 year! All you have to do is drive people to comment on this post with a suggestion, and sign up for our (mine and yours) RSS feeds by email. If you can get 20 different people (not including you or myself), I'll get you any one (non-premium) domain that you choose from the entries! That way you'll have a great new domain name to attach to your blog, and hopefully some new subscribers!
The person who's domain name choice gets picked will get a free movie ticket! Gotta have my movies attachment somewhere!
Pretty simple, I hope! Now get out there and get your entries in...our favorite Mommy Blogger needs a new domain name!

Not Exactly Movie Related

Definitely glad about this, and it appears that things are looking up.
Anyone else notice their Page Rank Going up? I started checking again after hearing some rumors about it over at One Man's Goal.
I wonder how important it really is, this pagerank phenomenon. It's weird because some people will base how good a website or blog is based on this, but I never really thought about it too much. I was pumped when I first started blogging and saw a 4, but then it dropped to zero and I found that I really didn't care too much. I only post my update because I saw a lot of other people posting about it.
Anyway, onto a little other random stuff. I really want to preview a movie tomorrow. Right now I'm thinking 10000 BC, but I'm conflicted. There are definitely other things that I want to do tomorrow too. There's a hockey game in Providence that I'd like to see... mainly because it features my beloved Boston University Terriers! My girlfriend has also invited me out on a date.... and I'm generally not one to say no to her. Too bad I can't combine the three... or can I?
More tomorrow. Time for bed, folks!

Not As Easy as You Think...
What made it so difficult is that you have to actually swivel the chair and hold onto it while screwing the base in. I figured that since most barstools swivel pretty easily, that the swivel part would be easy to hold. I was definitely wrong. It was a two person job, maybe even three people if you don't have a strong person to hold it together while the other people screw the screws in.
The part that made it frustrating was that after I sat down in it... it swiveled very easily. Why couldn't it be like that when I was building it!?! It's worth it though, it looks great at our kitchen island. I'll post up some pictures of the house when its all cleaned up. It's a little embarrassing how messy it is now... lol.
I was also wondering... would anyone be interested in having the Tuesday movie release update as a newsletter? I can still post it here also, but the newsletter could have more interesting tidbits... like a trivia section.. or contests! Let me know if you guys have any ideas about that. I've been toying around with the idea, I think it could be fun!
The bills are coming in for the new house. Home ownership is expensive, even if you only own 25%. lol.

Who Wins in a Fight: Aliens or Predator?
In respect to the new Aliens vs Predator: Requiem movie, I thought I'd offer up a little analysis as to who I think would win in a fight. I'd also like your output as to who would win, especially from fans of the series! I have yet to see the new movie, but after reading this review over at Film School Rejects, I think I'm going to take some time out to see it!
Alright, lets set some background on our two ferocious foes, listing advantages and disadvantages for each.. then let the battle begin!
Advantages:
- Whip-like bladed tail, good extension in close combat.
- Sharp claws and second jaw very useful in close ranged combat.
- Can incapacitate from above due to height (7 feet+). Can run along walls and ceilings.
- Acidic "Blood" can deal damage even if the Alien is hurt.
- Very Stealthy.
- Can spit acid (rarely shown)
- Lack of technology
- Can be distracted by green light, as shown in the novelization of the first Aliens movie.
- Vulnerable to quick climate changes.
- Vulnerable to small caliber weaponry.
Now onto our second competitor.
Advantages:
- Extremely resilient, massive trauma may not phase them much at all.
- Highly resilient against small arms fire and stabbing weapons (Uh Oh Alien Claws)
- Very strong, quite agile and fast.
- Ability to see in various modes, such as infrared. This could help in the detection of the Xenomorphs.
- Advanced plasma blasters on their shoulders... great for long range targeting of prey.
- Cloaking device. Need I say more?
- Vulnerable to prolonged exposure to our atmosphere. (See Below)
- Infrared vision may not be extremely useful in our environment. (This might not be a weakness depending on where the battle is fought.)
- Removal of mask makes vision much worse, as well as losing exposure to the atmosphere they are used to. The masks may also contain pain killers and adrenaline like substances, accounting for their high energy stores.
So who do I pick to win this fight?
I'm goin with my Boy. Predator for the win.
Of course, like I said, he still needs to be very careful, as a simple misstep can lead to disaster. It has been proven in Aliens v. Predator that Xenomorphs can take down Predators. Who do you think would win in a fight? Are there any advantages/disadvantages that I've missed? Feel free to comment!

For the Lurkers
What does that even mean? Well this site gets a good amount of visitors, but doesn't get anymore comments. I don't know why. I do suppose that its the paid posts, but a guy has to make money somehow. I need a little extra to support myself, and this is one way to do it. I still may move these to a different blog, because I do value my readers.
Anyway, to get things off my agenda, I thought I'd link over to a movie review done by a fellow blogger. This one was done by Skittle, and it is for I Am Legend. Thanks Skittle for writing that!
Now back to the main topic of the post. I love comments... and they've been dwindling. The readers and bloggers that I started out with are still active for the most part, because I still see them commenting on other blogs. No hits at you guys, I understand that the writing quality has gone down, and so hasn't the frequency. My life is just catching up to me... I can't force myself to stay up late and blog all the time anymore. Luckily I have this night off so that I can blog!
One simple request that I have is... if you're reading this post, leave a comment! I want to compile a list to see who will do it. I'll surely make it worth your while! It can simply be a quick hello. I especially want to hear from those who just stop by the blog and are not regular readers. What do I need to do to make you a regular reader?
I havta get ready to go to church... hope to hear from all of you soon!

A little good, a little bad
After work, I finished up my Christmas shopping. That was fun. It's always better when you know what you're going to get. It makes it quick and painless. I think I did a pretty good job this year, all I have left to get is a gas card for the adopt-a-family thing that my group is doing. Feels good to help out other people! Even though my car needs to be fed. lol. I found out that I really enjoy driving around, blasting the radio/ipod in my car, and singing along. That's right... singing. I don't sing in front of people very often, but I sing my heart out in the car... :-P.
So I guess that there was a lot more good than I thought. There is still a little bad though. It's an ongoing personal issue that really affects me quite deeply. I've been told many times that it shouldn't, and I've considered it sometimes... that it shouldn't. However, it continues to affect me, and I don't know how long its going to. It's no medical issue or anything really that serious, but I can get too into things sometimes. I have a good memory too, which doesn't help. Life isn't easy though, so I keep on truckin. This blog certainly helps. Just typing these thoughts out is pretty theraputic.
Anyway, I hope that your holiday shopping is going well. Do you find Christmas/Holiday shopping fun? (That was me being PC right there :-D)
On an unrelated note, don't drink coffee at 10:30 PM. You won't be able to sleep. I feel wired...

My Biggest Critic
That being said, my biggest critic is my lovely girlfriend. She reads my blog on an irregular basis, and while I was stuck in traffic on the way to work, she offered up some criticism. She said that I need to have some better posts. I agree. So I asked her what she wanted to hear about on the blog. She said that I should include the stories I have of kicking people out of theatres, and other fun customer service issues. That's all well and good... unfortunately I haven't had any huge issues recently. I think its the holidays coming, people have been more tame.
So, do you agree with her? I'm always open to criticism, as any good movie should be, right? Let me know what you think. Like I said before, criticism is not always a bad thing. Learn to make it work for you. I hope that you will provide some so that I can become a better blogger!
If you've made it this far, how about some of my favorite responses on the phone that I've never used? (The "Movie Theatre is Closed" edition)
- Are you open? - "I answered the phone, didn't I?" - Can also be replaced with "Nope, they just pay me to sit here and answer the phone."
- Hello, thank you for calling! Unfortunately, I have no staff here due to the blizzard, so NO, we are not open.
- Wow you guys are open? - Yes. I dragged my butt out of my house, shoveled the driveway, and drove here to show you and 5 other people a movie. Your shock that I am here does not help my mood.

In the Spirit of Christmas
I like working at the movies. I went over that in a recent post, the top 5 reasons I work at the movies. Pretty obvious. Here's an example of why I do!
Its Friday night, and its late. I'm just waiting for the last movies to get out so that I can go home. Earlier in the night, a woman had called saying that she had lost her purse. I couldn't go looking earlier because the movie was still going on. However, I assured here that if I remembered later, I would go look, and if I couldn't, our night cleaning crew would turn it in if they found it. I hung up, and did not expect her to call back.
I had the next day off, so I figured that another manager would give it to her, and they did. However, when I came in on Sunday, I was informed that there was an envelope for me. I opened it up, and there was a thank you note from her, saying that she knew that it was late, and I was tired, but she really appreciated the extra effort to go and find her purse for her. It made me feel really good about myself. Then in the bottom of the envelope was ... money. She said that I should put it towards holiday cheer. I have never been so surprised at work in my life. I wish I had her address so I could return it.... because while I appreciate the offer, it's not necessary, its' my job!
Since I didn't have her address, I took some and bought my staff pizza tonight. I still have roughly half of it left, and I'm not quite sure what to do with it. What do you think I should do?
This story has put me in a good mood. I have noticed that the mood around here has changed though... and I'd like to know what you guys liked in the past that brought you here, and what still brings you here. Please leave a comment and let me know, because while this is my blog on movies and some personal stuff, you are the readers! What don't you like, what you do like, please let me know! I hope everyone's holidays are going well, I know that mine just got better because of today!

Some Cool Things I did this Weekend
Folks, I apologize again, but my schedule has been so busy lately. I know I said I'd try to provide more regular updates, and I'm going to try again starting now. How does a Box Office Update sound? Lame? It's ok, I'm going to do one anyway ;-) (Later on Tonight!)
Just thought I'd mention some cool things I've come upon recently!
There was nothing truly eventful happening at the movies this weekend. However, I did try to go see a movie, and couldn't see it for two reasons:
- Parking in Downtown Boston can be near impossible to find!
- There was a fire alarm at the theatre. I never made it in, but I saw the fire trucks and the crowd and decided to avoid it altogether.
I have no problem giving everyone a free movie. Hey, its usually not our fault that an alarm gets triggered, but we like to keep people happy. My main issue is I can never get my staff to our designated meeting area. We end up stuck near the doors because people are crowding to get back into the theatre. I can understand that they're anxious to get back it, but it might not be safe, and that puts my staff in the most danger, seeing as they're now closest to the building. I have to make sure they are ok as well. Something about the mob mentality makes people press closer and closer towards the doors, and people don't walk back in, they RUSH in... causing more chaos. Blah.
Anyway, I also bought a new car this weekend, and went to the car show! You can find an update about that soon over at one of my other blogs, I'll let you guess which one ;-).
My Terriers lost twice this weekend. ::tear::. Anyone else like hockey?
I have no internet, so I can't post this now. Hopefully I will have some tomorrow, when I try to post this. Busy day at work, gotta work on a difficult translation trace program. (Don't ask) Until the update!

Sorry, Your Writer was on Strike
As you might have checked over at Joe Likes It, Black Friday recently passed, and I for one did not take part in the festivities. I had something else in mind, and was on my way to New York City. I hope that some of you did check out the deals that were being offered, and saved yourself some good dinero! If not, go get something from Joe Likes it... now! Just kidding. Now spend it at the movies! You know you deserve a good movie now.... if you can find one to watch. Might I suggest Enchanted for you disney movie fans out there? Or there is the holiday surprise This Christmas, which I myself will be heading out to see this weekend. Everyone needs a feel good movie. There's not coming up this week, but I'll be sure to post about that tomorrow. I know I missed last week's.
Finally, for anyone who's been trying to keep up with my journey for a car, I've almost gotten there. I didn't get as much of it from my internet income as I wished, but it's ok. Just have to finalize a few things, and I should be good!
I'm going to get back to regular posting and commenting tomorrow, I just wanted to post tonight to let everyone know that I'm back! While I'm here, I'd like to ask those of you that do read this, what would you like to hear? I know that there are some that are disappointed by my paid posts here, and trust me, they're not the greatest things in the world, but while I'm going to keep them to help me generate a little extra income, I'd like to post more about what you would like to read about... especially about the movies. I know a lot about the industry, but I can't always find something that I would find interesting. Just let me know, and I'll do my best to satisfy!
I'll admit, I get a little jealous when I see all the comments on Matt's Blog. :-\. He deserves it though, I don't know anyone who writes quite like him!!

If You Don't Want to Go to the Movies
Amazon is having a pretty great sale right now. Found this deal off of the Consumerist. Amazon has a bunch of DVDs on sale for 50% off. Some really great titles here, so if you're looking to own some movies without having to pay much for them, check out the Cheap DVDs
I know that I always suggest going to the movies, and I should, because I work at one. Don't let this be an excuse not to go to the movies!! Buy the DVDs, and use the money that you saved to go TO the movies. :-) That's what I suggest. It's the best thing you could possibly do. Plus it makes me like you better, so that's always a plus. Besides, if you don't go to the movies then I don't have anything to write about.
Anyway just wanted to throw that one out there. I'll do a real post later on tonight. Check out the consumerist daily for great deals. It's good for funny business articles too. :-)

Quick Recap
Man, I've been so tired this week. Stayed out late Friday to watch a hockey game. (Well it wasn't that late, but I had to work at 8 the next morning.) Worked at 8 the next morning... look I'm already repeating myself. Went out to dinner with my lovely girlfriend, then did some shopping around for furniture. (Pictures to come later!). Then went to purchase some house stuff with my mom this morning, then work in the evening until about 1 hour ago. Shouldn't have been there that long but was taking some sexual harrassment test. Good stuff. THREE HOURS WORTH OF IT. Gawd, I couldn't believe how long that stuff was!
Some guest highlights from the past few days:
- "How was I supposed to know it was in a different theatre?!?! Your sign was down. How was I supposed to know the poster in front of the theatre was the actual movie?!?! You're not playing a movie in there cuz your theatre name is blank!" (Ok, I exaggerated that one)
- "If you don't let me in, I'm going to legally cheat the system and get in." (Is that possible?)
- "My kids felt rushed by your cashier. We deserve passes."
- We're out of butter.

Movie Hype (it Up!)

You may have noticed that I've replaced the digg buttons with ShowHype buttons on this site. I think that they are far more relevant than Digg buttons, though I still encourage you to Digg my posts if you think they are Digg-worthy. However, if you're looking for the latest in movie news, I do suggest taking a look over at Show Hype. I also encourage you to submit my articles if you think they are good enough, or Hype em up ;-).
It's easy to sign up and its free. If you write about movies let me know and I'll hype up your stuff for you. Or, if you just happen to write about movies, let me know and I'll take care of it. Famous Blogs, don't worry, I will find posts that I think are relevant and hype em for ya. Just a little added benefit. :-) I did find that I got a nice little surge in traffic from this. So I do hope that it will help you guys out.
Well, that's all for now, I will be back for more tomorrow. Late night at work tonight. And I got a story for ya, so stay tuned!!

This Blog Approved for All Audiences
JustSayHi - Free Personals
This is a good thing... I am after all.. geared towards all readers. :-) I apparently used the word crappy once in this blog. This is awesome, great for my blog especially since I write about movies. Got this from Mrs. Mandypoo!

100!
Pretty crazy looking prices huh. Can you imagine what it would be like if that were really $100 instead of me just messing it up? Things have changed a lot since I started. Here's some examples:
S, M, L Popcorns were $2.75, $3.75, and $4.75 when I started. They are now $4.50, $5.50 and $6.50. That is freakin crazy. I can't imagine paying those prices before, and they are so much higher now. I actually feel bad most of the time when I have to change up these prices, but I guess it provides me with a job? Maybe I can replace it with blogging, who knows, lol. I do little things like that image just to amuse myself. Maybe its not so funny now, but I laugh whenever I see it!
What else does $100 signify? When adsense pays you? hehe. I don't know if I've ever really stuck with anything this long before, besides working at the movies. I suppose that's why this blog has survived this long, through the trials and tribulations of the blogosphere. I should make a move about bloggers. I bet someone already has. This is turning into a Matt post, time to take it back on track.
With 100 also comes a new header for this page, I hope you like it! I'm going to be using my WeeMee to start spreading my "brand". Lots of things in development, and they'll allow me to focus this blog on movies, as I intended. I'm going to be using To Infiniti and Beyond to report on how I'm doing with affiliate programs and making money online. I'm going to be using Joe Likes it! for product reviews, tech news and product information. Intermission at Work will be used for movie reviews, my oh so fun customers, and any other cool things that might be going on in the world (Like my famous blogs! - gonna make that monthly). The sidebars will be cleaned up a bit so that its not so cluttered! Perhaps I am spreading myself a bit thin but I hope that I can keep it up, and that you will join me!
Thank you again for reading this blog, I really appreciate it! By the way I'm at almost 4000 pageviews! I know that's not as great as some of the huge blogs but I appreciate that nonetheless!

How Much is Your Blog Worth?
My blog is worth $10,161.72.
How much is your blog worth?
A slight improvement over last week! I just have to keep the linking from technorati blogs up and it should continue to go up. The increase isn't too great, but any improvement is good. How are you doing with this?
Just checked the alexa rankings, and it doesn't look like anything has changed. I don't know how often they update, so I will make that a monthly thing here. Someone remind me when the time comes three weeks from now. Hmm, this entry seems pretty boring right now. What do I have that is exciting right now?
How about some crappy people that come to the movies! Sunday evening, there was a gentleman who came to the theatre, bought two tickets and left. Boring huh? Well, he actually gave the tickets to two kids, one his son, and one not. For a rated R movie. They got caught, and called him to come pick them up. Here's where things get interesting. He asked to speak to me, and when he came up to me, he explained that he bought them tickets, and that they should be able to see the movie without him. I explained the policy to him. Simple, right?
Of course not. He said "Why did you sell me two tickets then?" Of course, it was under the assumption that he was going to the movie, right? "Don't assume anything. You shouldn't have sold me the tickets." How were we supposed to know? Anyway, right after this he demands to see the MPAA guidelines. You guys know that I've had my experiences with this. So I go upstairs looking for the pamphlets we carry, and I couldn't find them. I did find the poster from this post though. It was sitting in our lobby, right where it should be. He goes on to tell me that all he has to do, according to that poster, is accompany them to the theatre, not the movie. At this point the GM has gotten involved, and re-explains it to him again. His final response? "You've got about 30 seconds to return my money." Geez. What a jerk.
I don't like people who speak in a threatening tone. I don't know what they think, that intimidating people will get them far in the world? It's easier to be nice, and keep things like that in. The look on their faces as you stay calm while they freak out is priceless. :-) I've got another one, but I'll save that for another post!

How Much Is Your Blog Worth?
My blog is worth $9,597.18.
How much is your blog worth?
Well, my blog worth has apparently gone up about 3k since last we checked! Now where is that check so I can cash it!!! I could start my own movie theatre, and every one of my bloggie friends could get in for free, :-). Hopefully I am still beating Matt at something.. or has he caught up again and overshoot me like crazy, like he did with Alexa. But did HE manage to save up 52 bucks in change? Didn't think so. :-)
Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone who reads this has ever worked at a movie theatre, or wanted to. If you have, what did you like and not like about it? If you wanted to, what made you want to?
I can tell you what made me want to work at the movies. It was that my friends were working there, and every teenager wants to work with their friends. That way work will be just one big party all the time! Of course, when I first applied I was too young, and when I reapplied no one else did. I have to say that it's been an incredible 6 years! I really can't believe it's been that long. What kind of jobs did you guys hold through high school... and do you wish you could go back to them?
Sorry that this post has been off topic, I've haven't had any real exciting stories at the movies or seen any recently. I'll hopefully provide a review of The Heartbreak Kid sometime on Friday, so look for that. I've also still got to make someone famous this week.... would anyone like that honor?
In movie trivia.......
