Movies This Weekend! 2/1/08

ShowHype: hype it up!
Hiiii everyone. Welcome back! It's Tuesday, so its time to discuss what movies are coming out this weekend, so that YOU can make an informed decision when you go to the movies. Ok I'm just kidding, you don't HAVE to listen to me, but you can leave comments!

This weekend is a bit weak in my opinion, but who knows, we might have a gem in there somewhere. I certainly didn't expect Meet the Spartans to top the box office last weekend, but lo and behold, there it was. I give myself credit that I picked that movie to watch, and I did watch it so I'll provide a review for ya tomorrow... just so this post can stay up top.

Here we go....

Strange Wilderness - Animal enthusiast Peter Gaulk and his buddy Fred Wolf host a nature show that is slowly dying. In an attempt to save his show, Peter and his colleagues set out to find the one creature that could save their show.... none other than Bigfoot.

Hows it gonna do? - Um... I'm not sure about this one. I've loved the trailer with the shark and found myself impersonating it many a time. However, I just don't see this one doin it for me. I could be wrong, and I might end up catching a few minutes of it during work to see if I am wrong, but I don't picture this one doing well at all. It's rated R, so you know that it's gonna be raunchy. (Gonna be a headache to babysit all the kids tryin to see this one, another reason I'm not looking forward to it)

Well.. that's one down. Let's look and see what else we got in store for us this week.....

Over Her Dead Body - Devastated by the loss of his fiancee, Kate, on their wedding day, Henry agrees to see a psychic (at the urging of his sister) to see if he can get some contact with Kate. Unable to speak to Kate through the psychic, Henry still finds himself falling for the psychic! However, she (the psychic) is now being haunted by Kate's ghost, who decides its her duty to break up the two of them if its the last thing she does!

How's It gonna do? - This one is a cute... date movie I think. I'm sure that some ladies will be dragging their men to this movie. Guys, Eva Longoria Parker is in this one, so that could be something to look forward to in the movie. It has a nice concept, but it doesn't scream blockbuster at all. I think it'll have enough in it to make it to #3 at the Box office at best.

Alright that's two duds in my opinion. So what else to we got? One more major release, according to my source (Rotten Tomatoes). And that one is.........

The Eye - Sydney Wells is an accomplished concert pianist. However, since she was young, she has been blind. However, her dreams come true when a set of eyes becomes available, and she has surgery to restore her sight. With the help of her sister, Sydney begins to learn how to see again. Soon afterwards, she begins seeing strange apparitions and images that no one else can see. People begin to question her sanity as she describes what she sees. However, she needs to figure out if these real or not. Sydney believes someone may have opened up her eyes to a world only she can see....

How's it Gonna do? - Well, I think this one has an interesting concept, and it's got Jessica Alba. Again, I don't see blockbuster with this one, but Jessica will pull people into those seats. This thriller will be the one that the teens will come out in droves to see, much like One Missed Call before it.

Well, that's it for our major releases this week. Again, there are several limited releases, and here they are:

Caramel
Vivere
Silence before Bach

Also coming out this week is the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus in concert digital show. I know that this is/has been sold out for weeks, and tons of little critters (you may know them as "kids") may be crowding your local theatre this week. Just keep that in mind.

All that being said, my pick of the week (Not that it'll be #1) is.... The Eye. Sorry, I have a thing for Jessica Alba. :-) Here's the trailer:

There you have it.. movies this weekend! What are you going to see? Something new? or something Old?

Joe's Review: 27 Dresses

ShowHype: hype it up!
Yay! I finally saw it. Well, we were late, and we missed about 15 minutes, but my girlfriend and I finally saw this movie. I have to say that it was pretty enjoyable, and had the same feel good theme that The Devil Wears Prada had. A very cute movie overall.

So what is this movie about? Well, Jane is the main character. She is the assistant to the boss at a large outdoors company, and is in love with her boss. She has also been a bridesmaid at (you guessed it) 27 weddings. Jane has never found the confidence to tell her boss that she loves him, and has always felt a need to take care of everyone around her, including her younger sister Tess, who Jane tried to play mother for with their mother died. Jane also has a dream of one day being married in her mother's dress, at the same Pier where her mom got married. An endless romantic, she has yet to make her dreams come true.

So it's no surprise when Jane's sister comes to stay with her for a few weeks, Jane finally decides that she has the confidence to tell her boss that she really likes him.... but there is a problem. Her boss, George runs into Tess at them moment Jane is about to tell him this... and him and Tess hit it off! Jane can do nothing but sit aside and watch as they go through a whirlwind courtship, and the next thing she knows, they are going to be married in three weeks, and she is left to plan the wedding!!!

Pretty crazy. Add to that Kevin, a guy who has been practically stalking Jane, and a committments writer at the New York Journal. Jane has secretly admired his writings, not knowing it was him. When he is called in to cover Tess's wedding, Jane is forced to spend a lot of time with him, and she finds him completely annoying. Now not only does she have to watch her sister marry the man she loves, but also has to deal with the annoying "Jerk" Kevin.

Well, I'm sure you can imagine that this has a happy ending, but you'll have to see it to be sure. All I can tell you is that I enjoyed it a lot... it was really good for a chick flick. Guys, there are a lot of attractive women in this one, and I'm sure your girlfriend/fiancee/wife will LOVE you for seeing this one with them.

This one is Joe approved! Here's the trailer for those of you who want something more...

I wonder if I only see movies I know I'll like or if I just like every movie....If you've seen it.. what did you think?

Sold Out.

ShowHype: hype it up!
Man. I really thought that this would never affect me again. For those of you who don't know, I do work at a movie theatre, and I honestly thought that a sold out show was a thing of the past for me. I've always been able to get into movies even if they were close to selling out, as I always waited to see how many seats were left and moved people around. But for the second time this week, I got rejected by a movie. What I don't understand about it is that the movie sold out the last time I was there, and they moved it to a smaller auditorium. Makes no sense at all.

Anyway, apologies to my lovely girlfriend... we will see 27 Dresses yet. For those who were doubting this movie, I think its the real deal in a Devil Wears Prada kind of way. It's been hugely popular, and I highly suggest that you check it out. I'll be sure to provide a review just as soon as I see it, but I have no idea when that will be now. It was actually pretty upsetting not to be able to see it, and I can definitely understand how people feel when a movie sells out right when you get to the front of the line.

What I won't excuse though, is the poor management of the film. I had heard someone there discussing why it wasn't in the largest auditorium, as it had been selling out all weekend, so when I came back, I fully expected it to be there. It wasn't though, so I was left hanging again. Just gotta decide where you need to put movies, and move em around if they perform/underperform.

Anyway, on a separate note, I just saw on TV that a ton of theatres are giving out "barf bag" refunds for Cloverfield. Is that really necessary? I know that at my theatre, we have warnings posted because of the reactions of the people who had seen it. Going into the movie, you should know that it's filmed on handheld digicams, ala Blair Witch Project. It's expected that the camera work will be shaky. I don't know about you, but if you know how the movie is going to be, it's something that you should think about before you see it.

I personally didn't think it was that bad. I didn't feel sick at all. If you've seen it, how did you feel while watching it?

Green Shoes

ShowHype: hype it up!
I just saw this opportunity, so I figured I'd take it and let you guys know about some Green Shoes! Po Zu is an environmentally-friendly shoe brand that is launching in the US. All of their products are naturally grown or tanned. They even have an edible shoe cream!! I've never even heard about that before.

If you're looking for green shoes, give these guys a look. They seem to have a pretty interesting concept going on, and they've generated a lot of interest from large department stores such as Barneys. This is definitely one way to go green!

If you check it out, let me know what you think.

This is a Sp0nsored P0st.

RIP Heath Ledger

ShowHype: hype it up!
Being a movie blog, I feel that I should post on this. For those of you who don't know, Actor Heath Ledger was found dead in his New York apartment today. The 28 year old actor is known especially for his role in the smash hit Brokeback Mountain. He is set to star as the Joker in the New Batman movie to be released later this year.

The details behind his death have not been released yet. It is not known whether drugs or other influences were involved.

It is quite a tragedy for such a young and successful actor to have his life ended. I don't know if there was foul play or anything else involved, but it is extremely sad. It does show that no matter how successful or popular you are, there are things you can't prevent. It's unfortunate that this had to be one of them.

RIP Heath Ledger.

Movies this Weekend! 1/25/08

ShowHype: hype it up!
Woohoo, time to do this again! I was just watching some TV, and I realized that there are actualy a ton of movies that are coming out this week, some of which I am actually interested in seeing! You ever find that happening to you? You're watching your favorite TV show, like House, then all of a sudden, a trailer comes on for a movie and you just think... I have to see that. Well, maybe it wasn't that serious, but they did make me think about them again, so I guess their advertisement is working. Anyway, let's get onto the movies! (I'll try to find pictures that don't get removed this time....where do you guys normally get yours?)

How She Move - An inspired story about a young woman, gifted in step dancing, who will do anything to get out of her tough neighborhood and find her big break. Featuring dancing choreographed by Hi Hat and an appearance by R&B sensation Keyshia Cole, this high energy feature looks to inspire and energize.

How's it Gonna Do? - Eh. Not for me. I have been impressed with movies that feature step dancing before, namely Stomp the Yard, but for some reason, this one just doesn't do it for me. They are aiming for a certain crowd though, and it could break out like the aforementioned Yard. It was a hit a Sundance, which is a good sign for it, but it does have a lot of competition this weekend. In my opinion, you should wait for the second Step Up movie, which is due to be released on Valentine's Day. I know I'm going to.

Untraceable - Special Agent Jennifer Marsh works in the FBI's Cyber Crime division, hunting down online criminals and predators. She's seen and dealt with it all, until the division comes across a website that displays graphic murders, with the killings happening more quickly depending on how many people visit. Determined to track down this killer, the hunt becomes personal, with Marsh's family in jeopardy along with her. She is in a race against the clock to find this untraceable killer.

How's It Gonna Do? - I actually think this one will do pretty decently. It has a good viral premise, which appeals to me because I've been trying to create sites with viral content... haven't succeeded yet. I am curious to know that if something like this really happened, how viral would it become. Would people actually visit more and more despite what is happening when they visit? I will probably check this one out. 50% chance of viewing. (Stealing the Fletch system again)

Rambo? - Sylvester Stallone returns to the big screen with one of his most popular characters , Rambo. After a long hiatus, Rambo is out for blood once again. Having retreated to Northern Thailand, and putting all the violence behind him, he is still in the middle of one of the longest Civil Wars of all time. After helping a missionary group bring aid and supplies to Burma, he is informed that the group did not return when they were supposed to, and that funds are being raised to hire mercenaries to help bring them back. Despite his training and wars being far behind him, John Rambo knows what he must do.

How's It Gonna Do? - This one is quite a mystery. I know that it's not going to be as good as the previous Rambo movies. While Rocky did work, since he was supposed to age and it was a blaze of glory going out movie. I don't feel that this is the same thing. I think in this instance, Stallone is trying too hard to revive this character. Rambo's time has passed... and I'll pass too.

Meet the Spartans - A parody movie from the minds that brought you Epic Movie. Nuff Said.

How's it Gonna Do? - Just like all the other ones. Some will love it, and others will wish it was never made.

So that's it for all of the commercial releases this week. There ARE several other movies being released, with the U2:3D movie being of note. That being said, I do have catch-up to do with movies that I haven't seen yet.

However, my pick of the week is: Meet the Spartans - I think it's just going to be enjoyable!

Joe's Review: Juno

ShowHype: hype it up!
Hi everyone, just returned from the movies! Didn't get to see 27 Dresses as the girlfriend wanted to, but that's only because it was sold out. Surprising that so many people would go to the movies on a day before work, but hey.. it happens. She was actually pretty disappointed and I'm going to try to get it in sometime this week. Don't worry babe, we will be going to see it. You did watch the Patriots game with me... so I owe it to ya!

Anyway, after much debate between The Orphanage, National Treasure 2, and Juno, we ended up going to see Juno, even though she had already seen it. Hey, it is a benefit that we don't pay for movies, right? Anyway, we didn't see the first because the bulb in that theatre was dying (tip from the brother, who is a projectionist there), and neither of us had seen National Treasure, so we thought it rather pointless to see part two. I'm really glad we saw Juno though, because I thought it was excellent.

Juno follows the story of our little heroine, Juno MacGuff, as she deals with teen pregnancy. Her child is fathered by Paulie Bleeker, who is played by the always good Michael Cera. Juno goes through all the stages of teen pregnancy, from wanting an abortion, not being able to go through with it, to telling her parents and finding suitable adoptive parents for her child. Also along the journey, she becomes good friends with the father who is going to adopt her child, and realizes that she has actually found her true love. Of course, there are many other things that happen, and also some truly hilarious things. I don't want to ruin this one at all, and I really suggest that you head out and go see this one! Here's the trailer if you need some more persuasion.....

Her father is played by the hilarious J.K. Simmons... I always seem to like his character in movies. I really liked how everyone in the movie just seemed to work.. they all reall embraced their roles. :-)

It's a complete movie from beginning to end, and you can really relate to the characters in it. I only wish I had seen it earlier.. it's excellent! This one gets a 9 out of 10 in Joe's world. That's two 9s in the row this year, with Cloverfield, and now Juno!

Did anyone see Juno? What did you think?

Joe's Review: Cloverfield

ShowHype: hype it up!
How many of you have been aware of the hype behind the Cloverfield movie? I myself have been really intrigued, and after seeing it for the second time last night, I should probably write a review about it. For a quick, gritty review (I'll go into more detail below), this movie is great for what it was. While being extremely short (99 minutes with previews), I'd say that this movie was great fora bout 94 of it. The ending just didn't do it for me, though. I can picture many people saying that the movie was great but the ending was bad. If you disagree, please let me know why.

Anyway, the basic plot of the movie was that a going away party for one of the main characters (Rob) is being videotaped by one of his best friends (Hud). Hud goes through the party, gathering testimonials and video goodbyes of everyone at the party. The party takes a bit of a sour note when Elizabeth McIntyre, who Rob realizes he actually cares about, shows up to the party with another guy. Rob appears devastated, and after arguing with her, he heads back to the party and she leaves with her new friend. Hud and Rob's Brother try to make him feel better, and let him know that he should just try to make up with her, and are discussing it when an earthquake like shaking rocks the city.

Everyone at the party starts to panic, but it quickly subsides. After turning on the TV to find out what happened, everyone heads to the roof to see if they can get a better look. As they are up there trying to figure out what happened, an explosion is seen in the distance. Fearing a terrorist attack, everyone panics and heads back into the building.

Soon they realize that it's not a terrorist attack, but something else altogether.

Not going to spoil the movie, so there's just an intro as to what starts the movie. It's actually very intense, and I really enjoyed the way that they used handheld digicams for the entire filming of the movie. It made it seem more real, and showed you how people would really act in that kind of situation. I believed that a lot of that could happen if we were stuck in the same situation. Of course, being a movie it did have parts that you know would never happen, but at the same time this movie made it work.

JJ Abrams does a really good job at making you "feel" what the characters are feeling. You get frustrated, and are taken on quite an intense ride. I know I've said it before, but that's what it is. It's not really a horror movie, so you don't really have too much of the jump out of your seat being scared. It's more of an implied fear... as in a "what if this happened to us" kind of scared. It was really well done... but I wish that the ending was different.

The cinematography has made some people motion sick, so I do warn against that. Also, I found it very interesting that there was no music in this film. The only music is the music from the party, which I don't really consider part of the music for the movie, as it was really for the party. It brought up the suspense, as there was nothing to set the mood except for the characters themselves.

For those adventurous folks, there is a bit (no video) at the end that can clear things up a bit. The credits are really long though.

Overall, I'd give this movie a 9, and say that it's IAW approved. (I should make banners for this stuff, like Fletch...)

If you've seen it, let me know what you think!

Movies this Weekend! 1/18/08

ShowHype: hype it up!
Hey everyone, sorry for the lack of posting recently. I need to update a lot of things, I know, and I hope that you'll be patient with me! I feel like I'm asking that a lot, but my internet has been less than cooperative lately. I promise that this will change when I move over to our new home, and I get some kick butt internet. Posting will definitely increase then.

Anyway, I hope that I am able to post this tonight. This is a pretty big movie weekend, with three major releases, and quite a few notable limited releases. Let's get started. Pictures to come later.

27 Dresses - Starring Katherine Heigl as a "forever bridesmaid". Jane (Heigl) has been a bridesmaid 27 different times, and has never found a love of her own. (I keep misspelling bridesmaid as bridge... I don' know why) Things change when her sister (Tess) gets introduced to Jane's boss, who Jane is secretly in love with. As she helps to plan her sister's wedding, Jane begins to re-evaluate her life, and try to find the love of her life that she is looking for.

How's it Gonna do? - Well, I mentioned before that I'll probably have to see this one. I think that this one could actually perform pretty decently, and be a pretty good movie too. It's from the same people that brought us the smash hit The Devil Wears Prada, which I admit I enjoyed very much. That, and it has the always spunky Katherine Heigl, who has been on fire since she made Knocked Up. I'm going to say that this one hits number 2 this weekend, as it faces stiff competition.

Mad Money - Starring Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah, and Katie Holmes. These three women play characters who form an unlikely bond when they work as janitors, unable to find better jobs, and without the ability to advance. They scheme and amass a large sum of money, and think that they have pulled off the perfect scheme until a misstep alerts the authorities. The women are forced to use all of their ingenuity to stay one step ahead of the law.

How's it Gonna Do? - I dunno about this one. It's got an ok concept, and could work as a straight comedy, which is what I think they're aiming for. However, I'm not sure it's got what it takes, especially with the competition that they have to face this week. I just don't think this trio works well together, and I'm not particularly looking forward to Katie Holmes' return to the big screen. I used to have a thing for her, but I just don't see it anymore.

Cloverfield - A viral movie starring.... who knows what! All you know is that whatever it is, it's winning. The people of New York (I think) are being terrorized by an unknown creature. Follow the journey of a group of people as they try to survive the terrifying ordeal.

How's it Gonna Do? - I think this is the clear cut winner for the week. There's been so much viral hype about it... a lot of which you can check out on Film School Rejects. I'm dying to know what the creature really is, and I'm willing to bet that a lot of other people are as well! The number one movie of the week, hands down. I've heard that it could be another Godzilla movie... which could be a good or a bad thing.

In addition to these great offerings, there's also Teeth, which is supposed to be quite interesting as well. I don't know too much about it, but I've seen the trailer for it and it was a little disturbing.... it could be really good though.

What are you planning on seeing this weekend?

You can do Better

ShowHype: hype it up!
Well, at least your computer can. How can it do this, you might ask? Well, you can just go visit PC Ask Me. They offer a ton of services to make sure that your computer is always performing in tip-top shape, such as virus and spyware protection, and also diagnostics and upgrades to your computer. Have you ever had trouble installing a peripheral on your computer? If you have, you might want to consider calling these guys and gals so that you can get some help.

I'm sure that you've had issues withTech Support before. Having dealt with a lot of customer service in my day, I know that these guys have to provide great service or they won't be getting anyone coming back. That being said, I'm sure that they do, because they are very confident in their product, which is an important thing. If you're not confident in your product, then most likely it isn't very good. Going out to get it promoted like this means that you probably want to get the word out on your product, which means you must think you have something good.

So give them a look, and let me know what you think!

This is a sponsored post.

You Ever Watch a Movie Because

ShowHype: hype it up!
You knew it would impress the person that you're with? I'm guilty of that sometimes. In fact, my first "date" movie was Save the Last Dance. That's something that I definitely wouldn't have seen on my own, but you know what... just about every girl I've dated has seen that movie and loved it. They also seem to like the fact that I've seen the movie. I also might own it. But I'm not going to admit to that.

I'm sure that some of you know that once you start a relationship, it's now a couples decision as to what movie you see (if you go to the movies). I'll admit that sometimes I'm not a huge fan of the movies I see, but sometimes I do end up watching movies that I never would've watched on my own, and actually enjoy them. I know that I'll probably get some crap for this, but chick flicks aren't bad all the time.

Some movies that I enjoyed that I wouldn't have seen otherwise:
  • This Christmas
  • Save the Last Dance
  • Step Up
  • Madea's Family Reunion
  • Diary of a Mad Black Woman
I think that the next movie I'm going to tentatively see is going to be 27 Dresses. My girlfriend really wants to see it. Here's the trailer:

What do you think? I told her that I wouldn't see it until she wore a dress. lol. I've never seen her in a dress so I think it's a fair trade!

Anyway, have you discovered any gems because you ended up watching a movie that you never thought you would, but did because you wanted to go out with or impress someone else?

Movies this Weekend! 1/11/08

ShowHype: hype it up!
Hi everyone, I meant to post something yesterday but I fell asleep. I'll save that post for... tomorrow? I've got to feature another blog... and I'm going to pick one from that comments post I left a while back. Don't you wish you commented? No? :-( Fine! Lol.. just kidding. Again, I appreciate all of you, and I'm going to do my best to try to revive this blog. But I can't do it alone! I need all of you to continue reading and letting me know what is good and what is not...I don't write just for myself, but for you as well.

My internet is not cooperating too well right now, so let's get to the movies. I'll update with poster pictures later!

The Bucket List - A comedy/drama starring Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson. These two men play two guys who are getting close to death... so they create a Bucket List... A list of things to do before you kick the bucket. Against the orders of their doctor, they check out of the hospital and start to discover themselves, travelling all around the world, and doing many crazy things. They soon learn that it's never really too late to start living your life, and sometimes you just need to set a deadline in order to get things done.

In the Name of the King - A Dungeon Seige tale featuring Jason Statham. Directed by our favorite video game to movie director Uwe Boll, this movie tells the story of peasant who is drafted into war after an evil sorceror threatens their kingdom. As the King and his loyal magus begin to get overrun, Statham's character and two loyal friends trek on a dangerous resuce mission to save their kingdom.

First Sunday - Starring Tracy Morgan, Katt Williams, and Ice Cube. Two guys are small time criminals find themselves with a few days to pay $17,000 of debt or Durell (Cube) will lose his son. To come up with the money, the two come up with a scheme to rob the local church, only to find that someone has done it before them, and they are forcd to go and try to solve the mystery. Faced with more than they can deal with, hilarity ensues as the duo try to weasel themselves out of their own situations.

Nothing too spectacular this weekend, I think that I might see In the Name of the King, though it is a very long movie and I probably won't have time. First Sunday might be a good screening movie, and I know that I've had the stupid trailer stuck in my head for weeks now as we constantly play it at the theatre!

Do you guys plan on seeing any of these movies?

One Missed Call = One Sucky Crowd

ShowHype: hype it up!
Well, after getting only two hours of sleep on Thursday night, I was actually looking forward to the small number of openings we had this weekend, including only one sucky movie.. or one I thought was going to do poorly, One Missed Call. However, when a horde for 12-13 year olds began showing up for this movie (it's PG-13), I knew that I might be in for a long night.

Starting at about a half hour before the show started (7:40 it started), I began making walk-thrus of the auditorium to try to get some order in there. It sounded like a middle school cafeteria in there. People were yelling on their cell phones, running around, and pretty much screaming and talking the entire time I was in there. However, since the movie did not start yet, I couldn't really do too much except ask individual groups to keep it down a bit.

Even before the movie started, I had people coming back out and asking for refunds, saying that they didn't feel like babysitting all night, and they couldn't believe how loud those kids were. I completely understood their point, and I admit I felt the same way about babysitting those kids all night. I was just hoping that there wouldn't be any issues.

Of course not. Just as the movie was starting, a group of kids walked in through the exit door of the theatre. Projection informed us, and we quickly went in to check their tickets. Some of them did, some didn't, but the commotion had already started. People were mad that they were sneaking in, and made it known vocally. After about 5 minutes of people yelling at each other, we finally managed to get some order in there, and I hoped that things would settle down in there.

Trying to do some work upstairs, I get called downstairs, saying that I need to meet them in that particular auditorium. When I got inside, I saw that some food and drink had been thrown in there, and there was some very upset young ladies that a drink had landed on them. To add to this, there was a guy who was outside threatening to hit the kids and strangle them. Apparently, some kids weren't mature enough to see a movie in public. Yes, it is a horror movie and some noise is expected, but it is not expected that you throw food or yell unnecessarily in the theatre.

Monitoring what happened in there afterwards, the same guy who threatened to hit the kids started screaming at them in the theatre. I should have removed him for that, but there were only 10 minutes left in the movie and I was hoping to escape without having to pass the entire theatre. It turned out that I did have to give out a large amount of passes, but not as many as I thought I would have to. What was worse is the attitude of the kids who stayed to linger around the lobby, making fun of employees and generally ignoring me when I asked them to leave.

So where does this all go? Parents, I urge you to make sure that your kids know how to behave in public before you let them loose. I'm not there to baby sit all night, and I didn't like that I had to for this movie. How would you like it if they treated you like they treated the people who work at the movies?

Images to come later... internet not working too well.

Coupon Jellies

ShowHype: hype it up!
Now that is one interesting name for a website. You don't usually associate coupons and jelly, unless you are buying jelly, and using a coupon. Hmmm.. ok so I'm not the most creative person, but that's why I show you the movies and I don't make them myself! Who knows though, maybe one day.

Anyway, onto our friends over at Coupon Jelly. As you might have inferred from the name of their website, this is a site that offers coupons that you can use towards online purchases. An example that they have is for Dell Coupons. That could save you a bunch when you're buying your next Dell, so when you think Dell, think Jell! Ok... I tried. And failed again miserably.

If you head over to their website, you find a spiffy site where you can search for coupons to use online. The team over at Coupon Jelly guarantees that they won't rest until they find the best possible deal for you. That's a pretty big promise, let me tell ya. With more than 20 people scouring the web for you, you're sure to find a great deal. They save you all the trouble of having to go look yourself. You can just go to one website, and search for the deal there instead of jumping from site to site. A pretty neat idea, in my opinion.

Movies This Weekend!

ShowHype: hype it up!
Edit: Looks Like I was right about this one... my buddies over at Film School Rejects gave it a D+. Check out the review: One Missed Call

Hi everyone, I know this is really late, but the holidays have once again cut into my posting time.. I've actually been spending time out and hanging out with real people. I miss my blogging buddies, so I knew I had to get this one out. How was your New Year? Good? Awesome? I hope that it was awesome. I went over a friend's house and we played outburst. Now I need to go out and buy that game for the new house.

Anyway, on to the movies! There is one major release this weekend, so I'm going to go a bit more in depth about it. The release this week is One Missed Call.

The basic premise behind this movie is that before you die, you will receive a call straight to voicemail. Upon listening to the voicemail, you will hear your own death. While you can delete the message, your number is still up. The movie follows a group of people who have this happen to them, and how they try to avoid and ultimately solve the mystery behind the deaths.

While this could have been a great concept if it were released a few years ago, it appears to be trying to follow in the footsteps of previous horror thrillers too much, with some of those being absolutely terrible. The Ring provided a good introduction into this genre, with technology causing deaths, etc, but the films that have followed, such as Fear dot com, and now One Missed Call, appear to be trying too much.

To add even more, it's only rated PG-13, so it's not going to be a terribly gruesome movie or have something else that horror junkies are looking for. The studio releasing it picked a good week with no competition, but I can honestly say that I have little to no interest in seeing this one. I don't think I'm even going to be screening this one...

It might be a week to catch up on a movie that you may have missed. I recently saw I am Legend (which I still need to review for y'all), which was excellent. Alvin and the Chipmunks has also been performing very well, and has had me singing the "Witch Doctor" song as I help clean the theatre, lol.

Well, if you're still interested in the movie, here is a trailer for it. I'm disappointed that this is the initial offering for this year, but it still looks to be a great year for movies, so stay tuned, it's going to get better!

What will it sound like when you die?

Shopping for Furniture

ShowHype: hype it up!
As some of you may or may not know, I'm going to be moving into a new house in about 3 weeks. (I'll post pics once I take some more, the ones I have are too incomplete.) That being said, I've been doing a lot of bedroom furniture shopping lately. It's been quite the experience... it's so difficult to find a set that you like, within your budget, and then it has to fit in the room too! Needless to say, it's been a long journey. I've finally found a set that I like (and my parents too!), but now the only problem is I have to wait 10-12 weeks for it to arrive! I hope that it doesn't take that long, but who knows. I know that I'll be sleeping on a sleeping bag or air mattress for a little while at least.

I have to admit though, it's been a lot of fun.. I've seen some great and some terrible sets at the same time. It's going to be awesome when I finally get it! I'm upgrading from Twin to Queen!!! :-)

This is a sponsored post. Even though I was going to post something about this anyway, YAY!
